The Driving Standards Agency driving test is taken at a Driving Standards Agency Driving Test Centre and will be carried out by a Driving Standards Agency Driving Examiner who could either male or female.

The DSA Driving Test

On the day of your driving test you will be required to attend the Driving Standards Agency Driving Test Centre at a pre-arranged time, you will be met by the driving examiner who will ask to see Both Parts (plastic card and paper part) of your Driving Licence, you will then be asked to sign a declaration regarding your residency in the UK and confirm that the vehicle you are about to take your DSA driving test in is fully Insured for that purpose, once this has been completed you will then go out of the test centre waiting room to your vehicle, on the way to your vehicle the examiner will introduce him/herself to you and ask by what name you would like to be called whilst on test. You will be asked to read a Car Number plate at a distance of 67 feet or 20.5 metres, once at your vehicle you will be asked Two ‘ tell me, show me ’ questions, you will then be asked to get into your vehicle.

Once in your vehicle the examiner will then say “ I would like you to follow the road ahead at all times unless lines or signs indicate otherwise, if I want you to turn I will tell you in good time “ You will then be asked to start your vehicle and move off when ready.

On the test which will last for a minimum of 37 minutes you will be asked to drive in varying road and traffic conditions, you will be required to do one manoeuver from four available,

(1) The Reverse Around a Left Hand Corner
(2) The Turn in The Road (usually known as the 3 point turn)
(3) The Parallel Park, or
(4) The Bay Park ( which must only be done at the Test Centre)

During the Driving Test you will be required to stop several times, each time at convenient place, you may be asked to do a Controlled Stop (sometimes called an Emergency Stop) but this is only done only on 1 in every 5 Driving Tests.

Once you have completed the test by driving around the test route you will arrive back at Driving Test Centre and be asked to park the vehicle safely, you will then stop the engine and will then be told the result of the test. You will be given a copy of the Driving Test Report (form DL25) and if you have passed a Certificate.
